What is it like being at sea for periods of time on Hōkūleʻa? Come hear about the 24-hour routine of a crewmember: standing watch, reading the clouds, tracking the course of the canoe, fishing, and cooking. Get a small taste of being a crew member by sampling a meal that would be prepared at sea. Also learn the answers to the most asked questions – “Where do you eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom?”
This program is part of a series of presentations that coincide with Bishop Museum’s Holo Moana: Generations of Voyaging exhibit in the Long Gallery from Nov. 4, 2017 thru June 24, 2018.
Traditions of the Pacific is made possible through generous support from Hawai’i Tourism Authority and the Tommy Holmes Foundation and in partnership with Polynesian Voyaging Society.
