I've been an IHG member for over 10 years and have stayed at many Holiday Inn hotels across the U.S. This was the first time I left feeling disappointed with the service. The positives first: the room was spacious for our family of six, the breakfast was excellent with hot food that was constantly refilled, parking was plentiful and convenient, the pool was nice, and the laundry facilities were affordable and easy to use. The price was fair for what we paid. The biggest issue was customer service. I requested an early check-in and was told the hotel was too busy. Later, I asked for a late check-out because our flight wasn't until the evening, and again I was told the hotel was too busy. During our entire stay (Sunday through Thursday), the hotel never appeared busy, and there were always plenty of empty parking spaces, so that explanation didn't seem to match what we experienced. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. The bathroom soap and conditioner were already nearly empty when we checked in, and despite letting the front desk know we had six guests, housekeeping never left enough towels. Some days we got four, some days three, but never six. One day the room was barely serviced at all. We also had to request more soap ourselves after running out, and the coffee supplies were never restocked. Overall, the hotel has a lot of potential because the rooms, breakfast, and amenities were great. With more attentive housekeeping and a little more flexibility with guest requests, this could easily have been a much better experience.
Very reasonably priced room that is very close to the airport, close to the water, but also far enough from the nightlife to ensure that you sleep soundly. The free breakfast was very decent. Would give 5 stars if parking was free ($15/day).
It's a nice hotel for the price! Breakfast is good. Staff members are pleasant to communicate with. No major complaints. I just think that the tub needs recalking otherwise, no complaints here. One image is a partial view of the ocean from the breakfast area and the other picture of the water is a partial view from my hotel room. The last picture is just a beautiful flower! I became mesmerized by the botanical beauty of Kona. 🤷🏾♀️
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt the true spirit of Aloha. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Whether we needed local recommendations or extra amenities, the staff was always helpful and proactive. Their genuine kindness really sets this place apart. The hotel provided the perfect base for exploring the diverse beauty of Big Island. Mahalo to the entire team for making our vacation so special!
Overall I had a really good stay here: Positives - Great location right in the heart of Kailua-Kona. You could walk to the Kona Village shops and quite a few restaurants in just a couple of minutes. You can also get to the various parts of the Big Island from this area. I did day trips to Hilo and Volcano National Park from here. The room was nice and large. The bed was very comfy. A nice Keurig machine was provided with coffee/tea supplies. The bathroom was large and had one of the best showers Ive experience in a hotel. The water pressure was insanely good...better than my shower at home! The included breakfast was tasty and changed slightly from day to day. It saves you a lot of money to not have to pay for breakfast each morning. Negative - I don't think you should have to pay $15 per night to park. There are plenty of spaces (I never had trouble parking) and I'm already paying to stay at your hotel. Why should I have to pay to park on top of it? I could understand if it was in a big city where parking garages charge a premium, but not in Kona. Despite the parking, I would definitely stay here again in the future.
