Ho’oilo House was our base for the first half of our trip on Maui, during which we got married. Dan was super helpful and kind- he even lent us a cooler and boxed up our cake to take to Hana for our honeymoon! The breakfasts are substantial and customizable. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. I really enjoyed morning yoga on our private lanai, watching the mama chicken and her babies peck around. The rooms are comfortable and air conditioned, and the interior hale structure is beautiful and well-appointed. Fair warning: Hawaii is tropical, and there are insects outside at night (especially in wet places). Ergo, if you want to shower after dark, just know you’ll meet Fred and his extended family (that’s what we named our outdoor shower roach). We did end up planning our beach-to-dinner schedule around him (home first to shower in daylight), so I think it’s worth mentioning for anyone who’s squeemish. This was a great jumping off point for the area, since it’s tucked away up the hill. It’s quiet, and you get to avoid the resorts. Staying at a resort, which we’ve also done, isn’t the same Hawaii experience. Ho’oilo is curated, but personal. We’d definitely come back if we’re on Maui again!
We had a wonderful stay at Ho'oilo House! The property is so serene and beautiful. There were many Monarch butterflies in the yard and the grounds were lovely. We really enjoyed relaxing poolside with the yummy and substantial continental breakfast in the morning. The chocolate banana scones were totally delectable. The common area has a cool open air design so you feel outside even when you're in. Our room was very comfortable and the outdoor shower was fun. Our host, Dan, was a great source of info and very chill. Loved our visit!!
Woooow! What an amazing experience. It was our first time visiting Maui. We were bit skeptical to book this place or hotel. But couldn’t take the eye out of this place. We stayed for 4 days, each day we were enjoyed the complete stay. After the exhaustive day trips in Maui, we were so happy to return home. Every day morning, we were fed the fresh fruits, house-baked vegan bread and many more items… The water facing view was excellent with birds chirping in the garden. Totally it was a great place (home away from home) and would love to go back and also recommended all my friends who are visiting Maui!!
