All I can say is it’s worth every penny you pay. My wife and I spent the start of our honeymoon here and even by the end it was our favourite place we stayed. The rooms are gorgeous and setup well, it’s an older hotel but the rooms are up to date and very aesthetic. But the thing we loved the most was the service. The staff were fantastic/friendly and so happy to be there. They would offer to take pictures of us get us new towels. Every time we would want service they knew and were there before we even asked. They were so attentive that we were just dumbfounded at how good it was. It really made our day. The next thing I will say is the breakfast buffet is probably the most unique experience I had. If you want a traditional Japanese style breakfast buffet with miso soup, karage and an assortment of other items it’s the best I’ve had. You also have all your typical American options but the Japanese options were the highlight for sure. Both me and my wife would stay here again. Also to top it all off the location is perfect for exploring Honolulu by foot.
I been her twice. It's elegant and so beautiful. I want to say a special thank you to the reception staff and manager who found my Gucci sunglasses and returned them to me. I didn't expect to see them again. I'm grateful and impressed with this gorgeous hotel and staff! Thank you!
The resort is pretty. Rooms are clean & housekeeping is very attentive. The shower in our room was microscopic. The pool itself was a decent size. All the umbrellas near the pool are “reserved” supposedly for hotel guests that pay 10k, so my $800-900 / night room doesn’t count. I can either sit in the sun or on the lawn. I thought it would be first come first serve, but it wasn’t. There’s no beach access from the hotel. There’s a tiny entrance onto a small part of the beach, but that’s it. The boardwalk to the main part of the beach is closed. You have to leave the resort to get on it which makes no sense. Most hotels have chairs and service from the beach and this place doesn’t for a steep price. Won’t be returning.
My stay at Halekulani was overall fantastic, with just a few minor notes. The beach area is quite small and the pool/lawn furniture could definitely be better maintained. The bathroom in my room also felt a bit outdated. That said, the hotel is beautiful in every other way. The location is great—right in the heart of everything—yet it still manages to feel peaceful and luxurious. The views are absolutely gorgeous, and the overall atmosphere has a refined, high-end feel that makes the stay special. One highlight I can’t recommend enough is the breakfast. If you have the option to add it to your room when booking, do it. The variety and quality are exceptional—honestly, it was so good I could’ve just eaten breakfast and been perfectly happy for the day. A stunning hotel that I would absolutely love to return to one day.
Wow, we stayed at the Halekulani for four nights and had a wonderful time. What stands out is the kindness, thoughtfulness and professionalism of the entire staff. They thought of ways to help that I did not expect (especially the staff at Orchids and pool staff). The bar for excellent service has been set high at this resort. Our meals at House Without A Key were delicious and we enjoyed the live music and hula performance on two beautiful evenings. We celebrated a birthday dinner at Orchids and the food was wonderful: presentation was beautiful, seasoning perfect and the setting at sunset with a view of Diamond Head was perfect. Honestly, the food at the hotel is far better than any of the nearby restaurants and the chefs and culinary team should be recognized for excellent service and cuisine. The resort is super clean and is a serene sanctuary away from the hustle of Waikiki. The Halekulani Bakery is across the street and provided some yummy pastries for breakfast. Fitness center, while small, was very clean and had all of the equipment I needed for my workouts. They also held yoga and other fitness classes but I wasn’t able to participate. This was our first visit and we will definitely return in the future.
