Attractions

The Duke Kahanamoku Statue, also referred to as 'the father of modern surfing' is located on Kuhio Beach in Waikiki. With the renovation a of the sidewalks and beach area you can really enjoy this iconic statue that sits prominently on Waikiki Beach. It is right next to the Waikiki Police sub-station and faces Kalakaua Avenue, the main ocean front road through Waikiki.

During the day this statue is a very poplular photo spot with people patiently lining up to take a memorable photo. During festivals and time of remembrance you will see his outstretched arms drapped with lei or flowers at his feet. Duke is remembered fondly as one of the original beach boys of Waikiki and more famously for the multiple Olympic medals he has won.
