Ulupo Heiau
Hawaii
Ulupo Heiau is a historic site found in the eastern edge of Kawai Nui Marsh in Kailua, Hawaii. This historic and ancient site is associated with the island's legend of the menehune as well as the high chiefs of O'ahu. You can see the massive stone platform of the heiau which is around 140 by 180 feet or 55 meters. The surroundings itself is very beautiful making you feel like you've escaped the burdens of the city life with the quiet and scenic view of nature and the monuments as well.
Ulupo Heiau offers plenty of nature trails and a great view of the Kawai Nui Marsh and the Kailua YMCA is also nearby so you can park your vehicles there. Once you enter Ulupo Heiau itself, you feel like you can get lost in the awe-inspiring scenery and the buildings and civilization seems to vanish as you go further into the area. This is one of Hawaii's most famous historical land marks as well as a great place to find peace and the area alone can be a place for mediation.
