I’ve been coming to Mahina & Sun’s for over a decade, and it never disappoints. Every visit leaves me excited to return. The menu is always fresh and creative, and the specialty cocktails are just as memorable. Nestled in the heart of Waikīkī, the restaurant has a chic yet relaxed atmosphere that makes every meal feel special. What truly sets it apart, though, is the staff. They are genuinely warm, welcoming, and fun, embodying the true spirit of aloha. Their hospitality keeps me coming back just as much as the food. Mahalo to the entire team for consistently creating such an incredible dining experience. I can’t wait for my next visit! Cheers

My wife and I recently got married in Oahu. Before deciding that island was where we were going to tie the knot, we stumbled upon Mahina and Suns. It was raining and we ended up spending probably four hours at the bar/restaurant enjoying food and cocktails as well as getting to know the staff. Ultimately, it was this awesome experience that made us decide this is where we wanted to get married. We encouraged our guests to stay at the Surfjack without even knowing what the rooms looked like because the people were so amazing. Lisa and Chris helped us coordinate a welcome party the night before that was arguably as fun as the wedding itself. Everyone we spoke to, especially our parents, only had the best reviews on the restaurant and its staff. Chris, especially, was incredibly welcoming to our guests, and made some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Our guests went back to visit multiple times after the wedding to enjoy dinner, cocktails, and the great company. Can’t explain how amazing Chris, Lisa and the rest of the staff treated us. It was truly the bright spot of the best trip of our lives. Can’t wait to go back and see our people as soon as we can. Side note, best martinis I’ve ever had (photo attached)

We had our "reception dinner" at Mahina & Suns, which is inside the Surfjack. I chose this restaurant because I had eaten there previously and every meal I've had before had been so delicious. I wanted a spacious restaurant where we would be provided with great service and we wouldn't have to compete with the large groups that were in town for graduation. Lisa, the restaurant manager, was great at communicating and helping me pick out the perfect menu for our 29 guests (pork lau lau, mahina bowl, rustic meatballs, ceviche, fried pickles, chicken milanese, pork lumpia, margherita pizza, green goddess salad). Lisa was so friendly and accommodating and had great suggestions. She was patient with me when I kept changing my mind for the dishes we wanted. She understood that, even though it was a post-wedding dinner, it wasn't a traditional reception dinner....we weren't doing toasts, first dances, cake cutting, etc....we just wanted to eat dinner together. She reserved the back of the restaurant for our group and it was perfect. The food was delicious, the atmosphere and the service was awesome (thank you, Alison!). While we were there we spent several afternoons chilling at the pool. The bartenders were so friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about drinks. Big shout out to Ian and Taylor!!

This is the only restaurant in Waikiki we have been making a point of visiting every time we are here - for ten years now. The food is inventive and delicious, as are the cocktails. Somehow we can always get a last-minute reservation and have even been lucky to do a walk-in on Valentine’s Day! From the current menu (2026), the smoked ahi spread is amazing! And we really enjoyed the whole fish. Our last visit here was with a toddler and the staff was extremely sweet and accommodating.

Great place to hangout with friends, family, partner, but also an awesome spot to drink all by yourself by the bar. The baristas and front staff were all nice and cheerful. Amazing happy hour menu from 11:30am-5pm, including cheap cocktail drinks ($8+), appies and mains. Tried their fish and chips. It has a great fish to breading ratio, juicy meat fish with light savoury breading. The ambience of the restaurant is boho chic and not too crowded, even during rush hours.
