Holiday Surf Hotel
Hawaii
Avis
I stayed at the Holiday Surf Hotel in Honolulu during my trip to Hawaii, and unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations. Due to a delayed flight, I arrived only a few minutes after the stated check-in time and was surprised to be charged an additional $50 late check-in fee. After many years of travel and countless hotel stays around the world, this was something I had never encountered before and it left a disappointing first impression. The overall atmosphere of the property felt rather dated and unwelcoming. The amenities were extremely limited, and the level of service did not help improve the experience. I found the staff to be less friendly and accommodating than I would normally expect from a hospitality business, particularly in a destination as famous for its warm welcome as Hawaii. The one positive aspect is the location. The hotel is conveniently situated, making it easy to reach Waikiki Beach, restaurants, shops, and many local attractions on foot. This certainly adds value for visitors who plan to spend most of their time exploring the area. However, considering the overall experience, I do not feel the property offers good value for the price charged. Between the unexpected additional fee, the lack of amenities, and the uninspiring atmosphere, I would not choose to stay here again and would recommend that travelers consider other options in the area.
🌺✨ Waikiki stole my heart… and so did Holiday Surf Hotel! ✨🌺 Our stay at Holiday Surf Hotel in Waikiki, Oahu was absolutely amazing from beginning to end. As someone who travels with my dog, finding a place that feels welcoming, comfortable, and truly pet-friendly can be difficult—but this hotel exceeded every expectation. The location is perfect: just minutes from Waikiki Beach, surrounded by great food, shopping, and all the island vibes you could dream of. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing Hawaiian getaway. If you’re planning a trip to Oahu and don’t want to leave your best friend behind, I can’t recommend Holiday Surf Hotel enough. 🌴🐶☀️ Mahalo for making our Hawaiian vacation so memorable. We can’t wait to come back!
We booked our stay here during our trip to Hawaii for a friends wedding. My friends and I Booked a one bedroom quad, which had a kitchenette in it. The kitchenette was so nice to have and gave us the option to cook instead of spending extra money for breakfast lunch and dinners all week. It had all the little necessities you needed in a kitchen (plates, glassware, pots and pans etc.) The staff was very friendly and helpful with anything we needed during our stay and also helped with some recommendations of things to do around the Island. The room was spacious enough to accommodate 3 adults and My Teenage daughter. The room has a nice little balcony to sit outside and enjoy the views of the Canal and Hawaiian Mountainsides. The price was great and beat all the other hotels some of our group stayed at without any of the amenities we had. The walk to the beach was about 8 mins and enjoyable since you were able to pass by all the nice food places and shopping right in the heart of downtown on your way there. Overall would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying again on our next visit.
I forgot to take pictures to add to my review but oh, well. This is a great little place. Exactly what I was looking for. The family that owns it is absolutely top notch and so friendly and personable. My room had a full size fridge and kitchenette. Loved the shower and bathroom setup. Had a room with two double beds and a balcony. I got to watch the beautiful sunrise and see paddlers on the Ala Wai in the mornings. They have parking under the hotel and also a parking lot down the street for bigger vehicles if need be. The rooms are a little outdated but I absolutely loved it. They are in the process of remodeling the rooms, little by little. Housekeeping gave me clean towels when needed and emptied my trash. The TV had the Roku setup and I was able to log into my Netflix at bedtime. I picked this hotel because it was away from all the noise in Waikiki. I walked a block down and got coffee in the mornings. It's so close to so many shops, including the new Target at the International Market Place, which is a couple blocks down. Perfect location to walk to the beach and so many other places. This will be my go to hotel from now on when I visit. Thank you Patrick and family for a wonderful stay! I will be back!
Here is a more natural, real-sounding Google review (the way people usually write them): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stayed at Holiday Surf Hotel for 9 nights and really enjoyed it. I was traveling with my 16-year-old daughter and the location was perfect — everything in Waikiki is within walking distance and the beach is just a few minutes away. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. Housekeeping came every day and towels were changed daily. The staff was very nice and accommodating — we arrived early and they let us check in right away, and on our last day they allowed us to check out at 12 instead of 11 which helped a lot since our flight was at 3 pm. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.
