Description
Begin your adventure at the Kilauea Visitor Center, where you will meet your guide and enjoy a buffet breakfast featuring fruit, salmon, cheese, tea, and coffee. Trek through native Hawaiian forests and along the Kilauea Iki Crater overlooking a solidified lava lake.
Pass steam vents and enter a native forest before reaching the volcano's active caldera. Observe the volcanic walls and feel the geothermal heat while learning about the area's ecology and geology.
Conclude your hike by descending into the Thurston Lava Tube, a long cave formed by flowing lava. After exploring the lava tube, return to the visitor center.
