Kakaako Waterfront Park
Hawaii
Kakaako Waterfront Park has a rich history, depending on how you view it. It used to be a landfill in the 1940s up to the 1960s when it was closed. In 1992, the waterfront park was opened and since then this has become a popular tourist destination with its small sandy beach, spacious grassy areas, and crystal clear waters.
Kakaako Waterfront Park has around 35-acres to have fun in, and that includes picnic areas, sandy beaches, and offshore surf and dive sites as well. You can also do some fishing and snorkeling in these waters and you can even see exotic and rare underwater wildlife while doing so. If you bring your surfboards or bodyboards, you can gain access to the surfing sites at the west end of the park. Also available here are parking area, showers, and restrooms.
Kakaako Waterfront Park is located along Ala Moana Boulevard which is close to the famous Magic Island and popular shopping destination the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Also nearby are plenty of restaurants, accommodations, and important establishments and locations making this a very convenient place to go when visiting Hawaii.
