Have been here about 20 times in the last few months (not joking) and they keep me coming back with the quality of the food. For Washoku get the grilled miso black cod or mini sukiyaki hot pot, for Teppanyaki get one of the dinner sets or the yakisoba from à la carte. Staff are all very respectful which gives you an authentic Japanese experience as part of the restaurant.

We had a great dinner at Suntory! The food and service were both excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the nigiri and the black cod to the starters. The quality of the ingredients and the presentation were outstanding, and the staff was attentive throughout the evening. The only downside was the air conditioning. It was so cold inside that I was freezing throughout the entire meal, which took away from an otherwise wonderful dining experience. Overall, I’d definitely recommend Suntory for the food and service, just bring a sweater!

I don’t hand out many five star reviews, but Restaurant Suntory earned one without hesitation. In fact, it earned three visits during a single vacation. We started with teppanyaki and it reminded me why Japanese cuisine is my favorite in the world. The quality of the ingredients speaks for itself. Beautifully marbled wagyu, perfectly cooked vegetables, exceptional rice and absolutely get the garlic rice upgrade. Every bite felt intentional. Traveling with a two and four year-old can change the way you judge a restaurant and this is one of the most family friendly fine dining experiences I’ve had. They don’t just tolerate children, they genuinely welcome them. The coloring books, kid sized utensils, thoughtful plates and little details made our kids feel included instead of like an inconvenience. We came back for the hand roll set and somehow it was just as memorable. From the amuse bouche through dessert, it felt like a carefully paced tasting menu. Every course had purpose and the sashimi and hand rolls were some of the freshest we had anywhere in Hawaii. Even the kids couldn’t get enough of the udon. Before flying home, we made one last stop for shabu shabu and sukiyaki with my parents. Again, perfectly portioned, beautifully presented and deeply satisfying. It was the perfect way to end the trip. What impressed me most wasn’t just one spectacular meal, it was the consistency. Three different experiences, three different styles of dining and every visit delivered the same level of craftsmanship and care. There are restaurants that chase trends and there are restaurants that dedicate themselves to doing things the right way year after year. Restaurant Suntory feels like the latter. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why Japanese cuisine has earned its reputation for precision, restraint and respect for ingredients. My favorite restaurant in Hawaii and honestly one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. I sincerely hope it stays around for generations.

Our first time at Restaurant Suntory was amazing! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the steak (and this is coming from someone who’s not a big red meat eater). My boyfriend and I were celebrating our one year and were gifted a cute cake and ice cream and I got a bouquet with real flowers! If you’re looking for your next date spot, Restaurant Suntory is the place to go.

Five bright, shining stars all around! We were flying in from Kauai and our flight was delayed TWICE, and it was our last night on Oahu, so we were so grateful that the receptionists were flexible in pushing our dinner reservation back. Upon entering, there is a huge display of Japanese whiskeys. We were promptly seated, and I ordered the $85 Teppan and my BF ordered the $125 steak & lobster. Both meals include panko shrimp, veggies, and salmon. To our surprise, a tasting plate of thin roast beef slices and cheese was brought along with salads. Our entire meal was so flavorful that I did not add any shoyu or dip into the roasted garlic sauce. Also, the garlic fried rice with bits of egg and bacon was tasty all on its own. We both selected the 5 oz. Washu filets, and we were beyond satisfied. The grill master never once rushed us even though we were the last patrons of the night. The restaurant is divided into two elegant rooms: teppanyaki and sushi/sashimi.
