Kizuna Steakhouse & Sushi
Hawaii

TRADITIONAL?? The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and decor and the service is generally good and friendly. The food is fresh and high-quality but if you’re looking for authentic Hawaii style Japanese cuisine not so much. The butterfish didn’t have very much flavor and was not grilled enough as it typically is. The shrimp and vegetable tempura while meaty enough didn’t have the light airy texture typical of tempura batter it was more of a crispy dense coating and the tempura sauce didn’t have any daikon radish or the normal flavor of tempura sauce. Also, the rice wasn’t Japanese style rice. It was more of a Chinese restaurant type of longer grained rice pressed together. If you’re looking for Japanese food typically found in Hawaii this is not your place. If you’re looking for Japanese adjacent sort of “stuff” then you might be satisfied.
Absolutely delicious! The sushi was prepared right in front of us to absolute perfection. The chef’s were so friendly and I loved watching them make everyone’s orders. The lighting and ambiance is nice and romantic. A little loud with the attached hibachi tables but nonetheless a great time.
