  • If you're staying in Kaanapali or Lahaina, expect a 45-min drive to Kahului. Entry to Haleakala National Park is $30 per car, payable by cash or card. Book ahead for Waianapanapa State Park, entry $10 for parking and $5 per person. Note closing times: Hana Lava Tube, Garden of Eden (4 pm), Kahanu Gardens (3 pm). Stick to our itinerary; some stops can be risky or private property. Respect local etiquette; locals use this road daily. Only one stop on the return trip; enjoy stories and music to focus on driving, about 3 hours back.
