We enjoyed dinner at Quinta. The atmosphere at the sunset dinner is fantastic. The tables offer an open view of the sky and ocean beyond. Just watching the clouds float past all evening. The sun was bothering my partner and they set an umbrella to shade her face. We ordered the sunset special, 3 course meal with a wine pairing. The pours were reasonable and very nice with the meal. The ahi appetizer was very tasty. The Cesar salad was nice maybe slightly above average. The bolognese tasted good but I had better recently. Uni and crab pasta was good, the pasta was a bit more al dente than we prefer. The earl grey tiramisu was very good. Bottom line on food was that we enjoyed it, but it didn’t exceed expectations. The staff was fantastic with hanks so much Heart and Kat!

We went to the pasta and wine pairing monthly event and overall we were less than impressed. The only redeeming feature was the waitstaff was great. The waitstaff made me want to return. We did the 530 seating. We were directly in the sun the entire time until we asked to move. I was literally melting in to the leather cushion seat. The wines were very small pours, maybe equalling a small glass between all five pours for $49. It was not worth the price but the choices were very well paired. If we went again we would order by the glass, like the lady next to us. The prices per glass were not bad and the sparkling Pinot noir we had was lovely and only $18. The food was just ok, except the orzo. I wish that dish was on the menu. It was stellar. I looked forward to the carbonara but it was chewy and fishy. The price of $79 was not bad for the five courses. The timing of the pours versus the food was off for such small pours. By the time you got food, the wine was either gone or hot from being directly in the sun.

Our recent dinner at Quiora in the Ritz-Carlton fell short of the high expectations. While the service was attentive and the ambiance hi-end, the food delivered only what I would expect from mediocre restaurants - at a close to premium cost. We chose the Wagyu ribeye ($85) and lamb pappardelle ($50), along with a side of Crispy Pee Wee potatoes ($18)—the potatoes never arrived (taken off of bill). Both mains suffered from a lack of seasoning; we had to request salt from our server. The ribeye raised serious doubts about its claimed Wagyu or ribeye. It lacked the marbling and deckle cap expected of a true ribeye, appearing less marbled than a standard supermarket cut (photos attached for reference). Texturally, it was disappointingly tough rather than the juicy, unctuous experience one anticipates from a wagyu. For $85, even if it were genuine Wagyu, this would represent a low-grade example at best. The handmade pappardelle showed promise but failed in execution. The noodles arrived clumped and sticky, requiring manual separation. Maybe in the attached video you may noticed that the sauce was not coated evenly. Where the sauce did adhere, its texture was pleasant, and the lamb itself was tender. However, the overall flavor profile remained bland and under-seasoned. For Quiora we had hi expectations, although we did enjoy thoughtful service, a refined atmosphere, and clear technical skill in pasta-making, we felt that at these price points, the food was “meh”. As it stands, our first and maybe only experience at Quiora was a miss.
